MiTAC’s weather-radar-equipped vehicle for military use
For promoting government policy of military outsourcing and military autonomy, MiTAC’s self-developed weather-radar-equipped vehicles for military use was shown at the69th anniversary ceremony of the Naval Meteorological and Oceanographic Office.
The mission of the Naval Meteorological and Oceanographic Office is to survey the coastal seas around Taiwan for meteorological and ocean information and provide the Navy with full battlefield environmental Intelligence. For the original devices had been in service for 20 years and the accuracy was deteriorated, the military invited public bids for mobile weather-radar-equipped vehicles, and MiTAC won the contract.
“The platform of weather-radar-equipped vehicles was 100% designed and built by MiTAC.” The Vice President of MiTAC’s Innovation & Technology Business Group, Sammy Chu said “It started 14 years ago when we helped Taiwan’s military establish a “Laser Combat Simulation Training System. We cooperated with RUAG, a Swiss technology company, and successfully conducted core technology transfer. At that time, we assembled a Wi-Fi-equipped vehicle for military communication use. Since then, we started the new business of military-spec high-tech vehicle. From 2007 to 2017, we have customized over 400 special mobile vehicle platform system, including satellite vehicles, microwave vehicles, wireless communication vehicles, command/control vehicles, network controlling vehicles, navigation vehicles and nuclear/ biochemical inspection vehicles. MiTAC is now the leading company in this field.
