Sending Love To Du-Mung Elementary School
The Du-Mung Elementary School in Du-Mung Village held its sports day on December 10, 2017. The long-planned Smart Library and Smart Health Room in Du-Mung Elementary School were also opened the same day. Aside from representatives from Y.S. Educational Foundation and MiTAC, teachers and students of Du-Mung Elementary also attended the opening ceremony. The scene was extremely heart-warming.
The smart devices in Du-Mung Elementary School are integrated under the cloud portal platform, which includes: library automation system, multi-functional library workstation, self-service book borrowing and returning machine, IDSmart Bookshower, special book chip label, digital library card, smart health station, automatic height and weight scales, and automatic blood pressure monitor. In the future, students can borrow books, measure their height, weight and eyesight using their EasyCard. Through big data analysis, the school will know students’ reading habits and health conditions and provide further help as needed.
The opening ceremony was attended by the chairman of MiTAC, Liang Su. He said: “on the surface, the smart library system looks very easy to use; you can borrow and return books as long as you have your EasyCard. However, all of your borrowing information will be collected through the internet and further analyzed through big data, allowing teachers to get hold of students’ reading preferences and reading time to further plan for teaching strategies. The same goes for the Smart Health Room for relevant data analysis.
Principal Chang said: “The self-service book borrowing and returning system with RFID technology and the highly efficient IDSmart Bookshower introduced by Du-Mung Elementary School will achieve the new vision of an unmanned library to improve library utilization rate. It can also use basic data for promoting reading education in Du-Mung Elementary School and as a basis for strategy revision. Furthermore, the smart health system that combines height, weight, blood pressure, and vision testing services can provide big data analysis in the student’s health record, enabling us to keep an eye on the health of students. In the future, these 2 systems will be planned to be used as the foundation of the school community, turning Du-Mung Elementary School a quality learning place for students as well as the tribe.
The chairman Mr. Su pointed out: “Although you cannot change the geographic location, in the era of the internet, there are no boundaries when it comes to information. Not only do smart systems help teachers teach and students learn, what is more important is that they allow children in remote areas to anticipate the extent of technological development and further broaden their horizons.” In the future, we will abide by our corporate spirit of “earning trust is an honor as well as a responsibility” and dedicate ourselves to focusing education in remote areas so that technology can be promoted in every corner of Taiwan.
