MiTAC Wins Xizhi-Donghu MRT Line Contract, Including Future E&M Expansion for Keelung and Minsheng-Xizhi Lines
MiTAC Information Technology Corp. (MiTAC) has secured the contract for the turnkey project of the Xizhi-Donghu MRT line in collaboration with Malaysian company Gamuda Berhad and Dong Pi Co. The total value of the project amounts to NT$31.96 billion (US 995 million), and construction is set to begin in early 2025, with completion targeted for 2032.
This new line is set to alleviate Xizhi’s long-standing traffic congestion and will link the future Keelung MRT and the Minsheng-Xizhi MRT lines, further integrating the Greater Taipei transportation network.
Key Role of MiTAC’s Team
MiTAC Information Technology possesses over 40 years of expertise in railway E&M (Electrical and Mechanical) system engineering, smart rail technology, and automated fare collection systems, along with a wealth of technical talent and project experience. In this Xizhi-Donghu MRT line project, MiTAC will undertake the primary tasks for the E&M system, including the following core components:
- Communication Systems: Ensuring seamless, real-time data transmission during MRT operations.
- Power Supply Systems: Establishing a reliable and stable power infrastructure for trains and supporting systems.
- Automated Fare Collection Systems: Implementing advanced fare collection technology for a streamlined passenger experience.
- Platform Screen Door Systems: Improving passenger safety and operational efficiency.
MiTAC will fully dedicate its resources to improve train operations and boost the efficiency and passenger experience on the Xizhi-Donghu MRT line.

Project Overview
The Xizhi-Donghu MRT project includes 6 stations and 1 depot, covering a distance of 5.6 kilometers. Future expansion plans for the Keelung MRT will add 13 stations across 15.6 kilometers, while the Minsheng-Xizhi Line will include 9 stations over 11.02 kilometers. These projects are set to significantly enhance the public transportation network in the Greater Taipei area.
